UpTaxi has two options for calculating the cost:
- Preliminary calculation of the price of the trip on the road graph in the city
- calculation by gps-taximeter
Our automation allows you to work on gps – a taximeter and by preliminary calculation at the same time!
But we are convinced that calculating the cost of an order on a taximeter is the most just system.
Preliminary cost calculation
In cases where the client calls the end point of the trip, the program calculates the cost. The calculation is made on the road graph, taking into account the prohibited turns and one-way traffic, along the shortest route. The track for calculating the cost is displayed on the map.
This scheme is very popular with customers, because know the cost in advance is nice.
But this variant of price calculation has significant drawbacks. The first drawback of the scheme is the need for constant and painstaking work with the city map. It is necessary to take into account all the nuances of movement around the city: one-way traffic, banned turns, turns, blocked sections of roads, etc. Otherwise, the calculation of the cost of travel will be incorrect and unprofitable. The second disadvantage is the lack of possibility to take into account traffic jams and detours. The third minus – in case the passenger changes the route, it is necessary to call the dispatcher, that he would edit the order. The fourth minus is the complexity of mastering other cities. When you work in your hometown, you know all its alleys. It will not be very difficult for you to correctly edit the road graph, but if this is a foreign city, then there will be problems.
The gps-taximeter system lacks these drawbacks!
